Jacqueline Warren, a teacher at Verde Elementary School, pioneered an innovative and highly successful method of teaching her kindergarten students to read using body movement and gestures. Her students, many of whom spoke English as a second language, inspired her to develop this method because it is so important that they get the best possible education starting at the earliest age. Ms. Warren told us: “Portraying a positive image in class and helping my students understand that it’s okay to make mistakes gives them the courage, strength, and tenacity to take on any obstacle in life.”
