Glenbrook Middle School – 1999 Winner
Ms. Raines teaches students who have performed poorly because of socio-economic influence, language acquisition skills, difficulties at home, and other factors beyond their control. Her principal stated “Ms. Raines has that particular vision that allows her to look into these young people and see the power and potential within them.” Many of her nominations, including a poem, were written by her students.
